Universal consciousness.
I find a helpful analogy for contemplating 'Universal consciousness' is to think of the waves on an ocean. You are one such wave, created by your thoughts. You are limited and temporary, but if you look within, you realise there is a vast unlimited and eternal ocean which is also 'you'. We are one part of a whole and when we realise this, the universe awakens to itself.
In the painting, two experiences are depicted of when I have had a glimpse of an 'universal consciousness'. Witnessing an owl hovering above brought me into the present moment, where there are no thoughts. Without thought, the wave becomes the ocean. The second image beneath the owl was inspired by sitting quietly in front of a tomb. As my thoughts subsided, so did thoughts of time, self and separation. I felt a connection with all beings, through the stillness of the tomb.
