Consciousness creating form
by Edinburgh artist Mike Heseltine.
The Ted Talk by Donald Hoffman sparked my interest in the idea that all form is created by a universal consciousness. This idea is in alignment with Christianity, Buddhism (Yogachara) and other religions who echo the concept of oneness. Hoffman also speaks of how we only see what we need to see in order to survive. I like this idea that the world we perceive is a fraction of reality, filtered through our thoughts so that we can navigate our world.
I use my art to explore ideas such as these and this drawing, I hope, echoes the Buddhist belief that our reality, as presented by our minds, is an illusion. I like the idea that everything we see is a useful illusion from within, and to start understanding this, we have to look more deeply within.
