Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. ~ Zen Koan
The labyrinth illustrates my spiritual journey, arriving in the centre where there is nothing. It is “empty” of solid, separate, and permanent existence. This is an important concept in Buddhism and Emptiness is a core teaching of Mahayana Buddhism. The teaching of emptiness points us towards the true nature of all things, which is impermanence, always changing and everything is inter-dependent. I return on the same path, with an awareness of the futility of attachment and that there is joy in the ever-changing, interdependent nature of reality.
