A place where the words ' I ' and ' You ' have no meaning
by Edinburgh artist Mike Heseltine.
A chance encounter with nature, such as seeing an owl hovering at dusk, brings me into the present moment. Like entering a sacred place, the owl gives me stillness. Its presence beckons me to a place where the words ' I ' and ' You ' have no meaning.
This painting was inspired by an extract of Rumi's poem 'A great wagon'. "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase ‘each other’ doesn’t make any sense." ~ Rumi
