I create a story where I am king
by Edinburgh artist Mike Heseltine.
I create stories about who I am to protect my ego.
I function in the world of my illusions.
But this veneer of stories distracts me from the reality that I am not my thoughts.
The drawing makes reference to the story of Adam and Eve. The serpent tempts them with the promise of knowledge of good and evil. Dualistic thinking was born, where we see ourselves as a separate self.
The crown represents the ego. Thoughts of past and future, symbolised by the phases of the moon, is at the ego's core.
The non self watches on, as I create my story.
