Our ancestors live on in us.
Since my parents died, I have been thinking a lot about how much I am like them. The way I think, react and behave. I have been looking further back, to ancestors who wrote music and painted.... how much of them is part of me? Also peoples actions who are not related to me, who influenced lives and have contributed to making us who we are. Perhaps we are the sum of the past actions of every living being. Everything is connected, and the beat of a butterfly's wing is part of our interdependent existence. I think we live on forever, via our actions, which influence generations to come. Being mindful of all our actions, however small, is perhaps more important than I have ever realised.
